Edison’s defense recorded its second consecutive shutout, defeating Sonora 19-0 at La Habra High Friday night.

Both defenses played well in the first half and neither team was able to put together many scoring chances. Kicker Chris Rico of Sonora (1-4) missed a 47-yard field goal on the Raiders’ second possession of the game. Edison (4-1) punted on its first two possessions and was held on downs on its third possession.

With eight seconds left in the first half, Edison’s Josh Kogler scored on a one-yard run.

Edison took the opening kickoff after halftime and drove to Sonora’s 21-yard line before Jeff Hall’s field goal attempt was blocked by Eric Garlichs with 5:26 left in the quarter. Edison then forced a fumble on Sonora’s first play after the missed field goal.

With 2:58 left in the game, Grady connected with Chris Lopez on a 36-yard touchdown pass. The two-point conversion failed.

Kogler gained 165 yards in 29 carries. Grady completed 12 of 19 passes for 146 yards.
