Stabbings at Amphitheater Prompt Increase in Security

Security was heightened Saturday night at the Universal Amphitheater, one day after a man was fatally stabbed and another was wounded during a performance of bands from the 1960s and ‘70s.
Luis C. Romero, 21, of Los Angeles, was killed late Friday and an unidentified 26-year-old man from Whittier was stabbed during the “Super Slow Jam” concert at the theater, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Bob Killeen.
The show was repeated Saturday, but no problems were reported, Killeen said. Each concert drew about 6,000 spectators.
The men were involved in a melee that broke out at 10:20 p.m., the cause of which was still under investigation Saturday, Killeen said. No arrests have been made.
The wounded man, whose name was not released, was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
