White Sox Retain Bevington as Manager
Less than two weeks after the Chicago White Sox aggressively pursued Jim Leyland, Terry Bevington signed a two-year contract Saturday to return as manager.
“They had the opportunity to try and get who a lot of teams feel is the best manager in baseball,” Bevington said. “That does not really reflect on me. I was never upset, I was always aware of what was happening. The organization kept me abreast of what was going on.”
Bevington, 40, has a career record of 142-133 since taking over the White Sox after Gene Lamont was fired June 2, 1995.
