2 Meetings to Address Education for Gifted

The director of the county’s Gifted and Talented Education program will speak this week in Ventura about the future of the program for bright students.
Catherine Barkett will share the latest information on how the State Board of Education is funding the GATE program and answer questions about how the needs of gifted students are being served.
The first session will be held at Ventura College at 4667 Telegraph Road at 7 p.m. Thursday. Barkett will address how administrators, teachers and parents can work together to strengthen the GATE program.
The second session, at 9 a.m. Friday, will be held at the Tri-County GATE Council Meeting at the Ventura Unified School District board room, 120 E. Santa Clara St., Ventura. The presentation, called “The State of GATE,” will be geared toward professionals who work with gifted children.
