Four Dodgers, including third baseman Mike Blowers and outfielder Chad Curtis, have elected to become free agents. Also deciding to become free agents were right-handed pitcher Jim Bruske and infielder Oreste Marrero.

Blowers, 31, was acquired in a trade from the Seattle Mariners before the season. He batted .265 with six homers and 38 RBIs in 92 games, but injured his left knee on July 17 and didn’t play after that.

Curtis, 27, batted .212 with two homers and nine RBIs in 43 games after being acquired by the Dodgers from Detroit on July 31 for left-handed pitchers Joey Eischen and John Cummings.

Bruske, 32, had no record with a 5.68 ERA in 11 games for the Dodgers in 1996. Marrero, 26, batted .283 with 13 homers and 76 RBIs in 121 games with triple-A Albuquerque.

In addition, the Dodgers acquired infielder-outfielder John Wehner on a waiver claim from the Pittsburgh Pirates. Wehner, 29, hit .259 with two homers and 13 RBIs in 86 games for the Pirates.
