A family of three suffered minor injuries Wednesday when their apartment caught fire, causing damage estimated at $50,000, authorities said.
Firefighters were summoned about 11 a.m. to the 16700 block of Viewpoint Lane, where they saw flames shooting from a bedroom window. A couple and their 2-year-old son were treated and released from Columbia Huntington Beach Hospital and Medical Center, authorities said.
Ronald Rodriguez, 34, and his son, Daniel, suffered smoke inhalation and minor burns. Rodriguez’s 37-year-old wife, Linda, suffered smoke inhalation, a Fire Department spokesman said.
Another apartment also sustained damage but not as severe. The American Red Cross of Orange County provided food, clothing and lodging for the family. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
