Plans for Development Include Golf Course

Share

Preliminary plans have been submitted to the city by the Helman Ranch Co. for a 66-home development and an 18-hole golf course to front on Seal Beach Boulevard just south of the police station.

Associate planner Barry Curtis said the development plans also include an environmental interpretive center featuring information on wetlands and native American artifacts, a restaurant and the relocation of the historical Krenwinkle House to Pacific Coast Highway.

The proposal will undergo a long review process, including a six- to nine-month environmental impact study. The plan also will go to the Planning Commission and the City Council for public hearing and approval.

No specific design for the homes or golf course has yet been submitted, but preliminary plans indicate that the homes will sit on 5,000- to 6,000-square-foot plots, Curtis said.

The golf course will be Seal Beach’s second, joining the private Bixby Old Ranch Country Club.
