The Santa Susana Mountain Park Assn. needs volunteers to help in efforts toward the preservation of open land. The group needs biologists, botanists, ecologists, people with computer skills, trail guides, docents, speakers, organizers and other outdoor enthusiasts. For information, call (818) 704-9304.
Project Headway, the only community-based, life-long residential treatment program for Southern California adults who have suffered severe head injuries, needs volunteers to spend time with clients in homes or on recreational outings. Heal the Bay needs volunteers for beach cleanups and other programs. An orientation program will be held Nov. 4 at the Heal the Bay office at 2701 Ocean Park Blvd., Suite 150, Santa Monica. An Adopt-a-Beach cleanup and educational presentation will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Nov. 16 at the Playa del Rey beach. Volunteers will meet at Convoy Street and Pacific Avenue.
