Man Who Killed His Children Sentenced
A man portrayed as being enraged at his unfaithful wife for staying out late was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for setting a fire that killed their three children, ages 6, 5 and 3. Mark Mastin, an unemployed truck driver, ignited lamp oil on the stairs after quarreling with his wife, Lisa, for staying out with male friends until 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 9, prosecutors in Canandaigua said. Mastin then stood calmly outside while the fire raged, prosecutors said. Mrs. Mastin escaped with severe leg burns. Mastin was convicted on second-degree murder and first-degree arson after a five-day trial in August.
