2K Fun Run to Show Rio Students to a T
A 2K run--just for fun--will mean T-shirts and prizes for Rio School District students Sunday, organizers said.
All students of the district’s five schools who run or walk the course will receive free T-shirts. The event begins at 8 a.m. at Honda of Oxnard, 1500 E. Ventura Blvd.
“It’s really a celebration of children for the district here,” Supt. Yolanda Benitez said. “I’m so proud of the kids, I want to show off the kids to anyone who wants to see them.” ’
The district worked with local businesses and organizations such as Southern Pacific Milling Co., Wal-Mart and Honda and Saturn dealers. The companies donated money for the T-shirts as well as free raffle prizes, such as bicycles, video games and skateboards, for the students.
All adults and students from other schools must pay $15 for registration and T-shirts.
