Monroe High Plans Candidates Forum

Share

Although the law and government magnet program at Monroe High School makes for a politically aware campus, most students are still too young to vote. But on Tuesday and Wednesday, they will be able to make their political voices heard.

The students will participate in a candidates forum Tuesday during which they will attend a mock presidential debate and meet real candidates seeking to represent San Fernando Valley districts in Congress and the state Legislature.

Organizers say other presidential candidates besides Bob Dole and Bill Clinton will be represented in the debate.

The day after the debate and forum, students will take part in a national mock election sponsored by the League of Women Voters and Cable News Network. The TV network will broadcast results from mock elections across the country.

El Camino Real High School in West Hills also plans a mock presidential debate.
