Young men and women throughout Ventura County are being invited to an “Academy Information Night” seminar Wednesday night hosted by Rep. Elton Gallegly (R-Simi Valley).

Discussions will focus on how young people may qualify for the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.; the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y.; the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., or the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y.

“I hope this event will serve as a clearinghouse for information for all of those interested in an appointment to one of our academies,” Gallegly said in a prepared statement.

“Students should leave with a good sense of what the academies are looking for and a good sense of whether the academy experience is something that appeals to them,” he said.

Representatives of each of the academies, as well as currently enrolled cadets and midshipmen, will be in attendance.

The seminar is open to all young people between the ages of 17 and 21 who live in Ventura County and will be high school graduates by July 1.

The 7 to 9 p.m. meeting will be held at Adolfo Camarillo High School, 4660 Mission Oaks Blvd. in Camarillo.

For information, call Gallegly’s office at (800) 423-0023 or (805) 485-2300.
