South Municipal Court May Get 4 More Employees

Share

The Board of Supervisors on Tuesday will consider a proposal to add two court employees and two marshal’s office workers to Municipal Court in Laguna Niguel.

Judges and others have long complained that the Laguna Niguel courthouse is too small. Supervisor Marian Bergeson said she will urge the board to move forward on a proposal to build a new courthouse, but that issue isn’t expected to come before the board for several weeks.

In other action, supervisors will decide whether to increase the fee charged to residents who use Discover cards to pay their property taxes.

Taxpayers are currently charged up to $5, but Discover recently increased its vendor charge to as much as $15.

County officials said they have little choice but to pass along the fee increase to credit card users.

The board meets at 7 p.m. at the Hall of Administration, 10 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana.
