Police Seek Man in Kidnapping Attempt

Share

Police are searching for a man who tried to kidnap a 13-year-old girl walking to school Monday. The child broke free and ran to a friend’s house for help.

The Garden Grove girl was walking on Newland Street between 23rd Street and Arvilla Place about 7:20 a.m. when a man driving a maroon Toyota Corolla pulled in front of her and waited for her to approach, Police Officer Robin Kapp said. As she walked by, the man offered her a ride, which she refused, police said.

“The victim ignored the suspect and kept on walking,” Kapp said. “The suspect again drove up on the victim, exited, grabbed her and tried to force her into the vehicle.”
