Ex-Campaign Chief Pushing Measure E

Share

A group formed to convince voters to support Measure E, a Thousand Oaks growth-management ordinance sponsored by Mayor Andy Fox, continues to receive generous financial support from Fox’s former campaign manager.

Citizens to Protect our General Plan--Yes on Measure E received $4,503 from the Domino’s Cares Fund on Tuesday, a fund put together by Jill Lederer, the owner of 10 area pizza franchises and Fox’s campaign manager during the 1994 elections.

That brings Lederer’s contributions to the committee to $20,199--the overwhelming majority of the money the group has received. It has raised a total of $21,987 so far, and is using the money in a series of mailers and television commercials promoting Measure E.

Measure E seeks to limit excessive growth in Thousand Oaks by requiring voter approval for any private development that exceeds General Plan guidelines for its location.

Opponents of the measure, including Councilwoman Elois Zeanah and Planning Commissioner Linda Parks, argue that it is unfair because it excludes public property.
