Hancock 33, Ventura 6--The Bulldogs raced to a 26-0 halftime lead, helped by second-quarter touchdown passes of 36 and 56 yards from Adam Pineo to Joe St. Meyer, in a Western State Conference Northern Division game, then cruised the rest of the way.
Hancock (7-0, 2-0), off to its best start in 36 years, and with the No. 1 defense in the state against the run, held the Pirates to two rushing yards. Running back Elihu Vann needed eight carries to gain 14 yards.
Ventura (3-4, 0-2) avoided a shutout in the final minute, the score coming on Kyle Schommer’s three-yard pass to Donell Wickett with 23 seconds remaining.
