Stevens Is No Fan of the FleetCenter

For King left wing Kevin Stevens, who had a brief and unhappy stay with the Boston Bruins before being traded to the Kings last January, today’s game at the FleetCenter represents a return to the scene of the crime.

Stevens, who is from nearby Brockton, Mass., was traded to the Bruins by the Pittsburgh Penguins before last season but never got on track in his hometown. A two-time 50-goal scorer, he had only 10 goals in 41 games with the Bruins and was benched by Coach Steve Kasper in a celebrated incident before the Bruins sent him to the Kings for right wing Rick Tocchet on Jan. 25.

“Nothing good ever happened in this building. In the old building [Boston Garden] I had a lot of great games. Not here,” said Stevens, who still refuses to talk to Kasper. “I didn’t really like it too much here.”
