Coastline Community College has received a $604,103 federal grant to continue its literacy programs for Orange County workers.

Irvine Valley College and Rancho Santiago College in Santa Ana will join Coastline in administering the U.S. Department of Education grant. Matching funds are being provided by 15 area businesses.

The goal is to improve workplace literacy through classes in English as second language, bilingual education and other programs, said Coastline’s Karen Klamer, director of the grant. More than 50 area companies will benefit from the programs this year, she added.
