THE WEEK IN REVIEW

Winners and Losers

There were plenty of winners and losers this week. Among the winners: Democratic consultant Parke Skelton, who helped engineer upset victories for Brad Sherman and Adam Schiff. Skelton was involved in eight Southern California campaigns, winning seven. . . . And one city government feels like a loser. With the passage of Prop. 218, the city of San Fernando must send out ballots and collect enough yes votes to approve its annual street light assessment. Says Public Works Director Michael Drake: “It’s a real expensive proposition. Eventually, it will just increase the cost.”

The Week Ahead

Rep.-elect Sherman will be busy. Before flying to Washington on Thursday, he’ll make two public appearances over the weekend and spend much of next week attending to State Board of Equalization business. . . . And on Monday, he said, “I have a dental appointment.”
