Ontario Christian’s Late Score Knocks Off Brethren Christian

Tony Giles scored on an six-yard run with 15 seconds remaining as Ontario Christian defeated Brethren Christian, 29-26, in an Olympic League game Friday night at Ontario Christian.

Brethren Christian had taken a 26-23 lead with 2 minutes 50 seconds remaining when Adrian Castillo ran 11 yards for a touchdown.

The Warriors (4-4, 2-2) led, 12-0, after the first quarter on a 33-yard touchdown pass from quarterback David Priestley to Dan Muilenburg, and a 35-yard touchdown pass from Priestley to Jonaphon Rouwenhorst.

Ontario Christian answered in the second quarter on Ben Goedhart’s 12-yard touchdown run that made it 12-7 at the half.

The Knights (7-2, 3-1) then went on top, 17-12, in the third quarter on a 12-yard touchdown run by Giles and a 22-yard field goal by Jim Jensen.

After Justin Vandenburg’s eight-yard touchdown run increased Ontario Christian’s lead to 23-12, Erik Jensen caught Priestley’s third touchdown pass--a 14-yarder--yo cut the Knights’ lead to four.

Priestley, who will attend Ohio State next year, completed 22 of 32 passes for 259 yards with an interception.

Goedhart completed 20 of 41 passes for 251 yards.

Cerritos Valley Christian 34, Whittier Christian 28--The Heralds remain winless with the loss at Whittier College.
