Rychel Is Facing Possible Suspension

Share

Winger Warren Rychel is concerned about the possibility of a one-game suspension after receiving a stick-related major and game misconduct penalty for slashing the Kings’ John Slaney on Friday.

Rychel said he had a stick-related major and game misconduct last season while playing for the Colorado Avalanche, and NHL rules call for an automatic suspension for two such penalties within 41 regular-season games.

Unless the league rescinds the misconduct penalty, he will probably have to sit out Monday’s game against Dallas and probably pay $300 in fines.

“It’s just my reputation,” Rychel said. “If it was Paul Kariya, it would have been two minutes.”

Right wing Valeri Karpov, injured more than two weeks ago on a hit by Hartford’s Steven Rice, is skating but hasn’t resumed practicing.

The problem is a strained neck, more so than the after-effects of his concussion.
