DETROIT (4-5) at SAN DIEGO (5-4)

Channel 7, 6 p.m.

The Lions are not the same without quarterback Scott Mitchell (shoulder) and not the same away from home. The Lions are 17-4 at home over the last three years, 6-14 on the road. The Chargers get Stan Humphries (shoulder) back. If the Chargers want to take the pressure off Humphries it will be a break in form--the team has not scored a rushing touchdown in 28 quarters.

--Say what: These two teams haven’t met since 1984 with the Chargers prevailing, 27-24.

--Player to watch: Running back Barry Sanders. Sanders gained 152 yards last week against Green Bay and will be matched against the NFL’s No. 22 rush defense.

--Finally: Detroit Coach Wayne Fontes, always seemingly on the edge of being fired, knows when to win: When the national TV cameras are focused on his team. The Lions are 3-0 on Monday night the last two seasons.
