Abdullah’s Pin Is Key for Rancho Santiago

Ishmael Abdullah’s pin in the 177-pound match turned out to be the deciding factor in Rancho Santiago’s 26-19 victory over Mt. San Antonio in South Coast Conference wrestling Wednesday at Mt. San Antonio.

Abdullah’s 2 minute 59 second pin came after Mt. SAC recorded a pin to come within two points of catching Rancho Santiago (14-4, 5-2).

Carlos Miranda (190) and Jose Gomez (275) put the match away for the Dons after winning their matches, 3-2 and 6-4.

In Orange Empire Conference women’s volleyball:

Fullerton 3, Rancho Santiago 0--Jennifer Augustin had eight kills for Fullerton, which won, 15-3, 15-3, 15-3. The Hornets are 11-2, 7-1. Ana Reza had four kills for winless Rancho Santiago (0-14, 0-8).

Orange Coast 3, Cypress 0--Carrie Ritchey had seven kills as Orange Coast defeated Cypress, 15-2, 15-10, 15-7. Teammates Jennifer Fish and Amber Ambrose also had seven kills for the Pirates (10-7, 5-5).

Mindy Sheets had seven kills for Cypress (6-10, 1-8).
