League to Hold 1st Major Fund-Raiser

A 10-foot Victorian Christmas tree and a ladder and tools for the do-it-yourselfer will be among the items auctioned at a fund-raiser Friday sponsored by the Assistance League of the Conejo Valley.

The league’s “Celebration ‘96: Joys of the Season” fund-raiser will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Hyatt Westlake Plaza’s Grand Ballroom, 880 S. Westlake Blvd.

The auction is the first major event sponsored by the 18-month-old Assistance League of the Conejo Valley, a 38-member guild of the National Assistance League. League organizers hope to raise $5,000 at the auction to support the service group’s programs in the Conejo Valley, Moorpark, Simi Valley and Agoura Hills. The league’s “Operation School Bell” program has provided more than 250 backpacks filled with school supplies for needy elementary school children in eastern Ventura County.
