Camarillo 54, Pasadena 14--The Scorpions (10-1) proved they could win outside of the Marmonte League as they won in resounding fashion at Camarillo.

Trailing, 14-13, with four minutes remaining in the first half, Andy Kroneberger returned a punt 33 yards for a touchdown, giving Camarillo the lead for good.

Randy Bryce and Nik Saum each recovered fumbles in the final minute of the first half to set up touchdowns by Joe Hallowell and Mike Anger to give the Scorpions a 33-14 lead at halftime.

A muddy field slowed quarterback Joe Borchard, who completed 13 of 34 passes for 210 yards and four touchdowns.

Tight end Justin Denham caught four passes for 76 yards, including touchdowns of 44, 10 and eight yards. Running back John Howe was the game’s leading rusher with 65 yards in 16 carries.

The Scorpion defense held the Bulldogs to 116 total yards, 66 of them coming on an Anthony Matthews-to-Audonnis Bailey touchdown pass in the second quarter. The Bulldogs had just 23 yards in the second half.

The Scorpions have won nine games in a row on the field, plus a forfeit victory against Oxnard.
