From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Searchers found no signs of life as they dug out more human remains from the rubble of a building explosion in San Juan that killed at least 22 people. Rescue workers aided by sophisticated listening devices and dogs trained to sniff out survivors searched for about 10 people officials believe are buried in the tangle of concrete blocks and mangled metal girders. Relatives and friends said 23 people were missing. The search resumed more than 40 hours after it was suspended Thursday for fear that the building would cave in. One of the 80 people injured, a passerby, filed the first reported lawsuit, accusing the parent company of San Juan Gas Co. of negligence that caused a gas explosion. Enron Corp. of Houston, which owns the gas company, said its workers investigated reported gas odors in the building that exploded but found nothing wrong.
