George ‘Nick’ Nicholas; Animator Worked on Disney Classics

George “Nick” Nicholas, 85, Disney animator who worked on “Lady and the Tramp” and “Cinderella.” Born in Vermilion, Ohio, he moved to Los Angeles with his family when he was 10. At 21, he was hired by Walt Disney Studios. In later years Nicholas worked for Hanna Barbera and other animation studios. Among his other credits were “Riki Tiki Tavi,” “The White Seal” and the 1971 Academy Award-winning animated version of “The Christmas Carol” produced by Dick Williams. Nicholas also was a widely exhibited painter and sculptor. In 1986 he was honored for 50 years’ service to the cartoon industry by the Motion Picture Screen Cartoonists Guild.
