Western Athletic Conference Commissioner Karl Benson has scheduled a Dec. 6 meeting with the league’s 16 schools to discuss whether to take legal action against the Bowl Alliance.

“Nothing has been finalized,” Benson said Monday. “The WAC presidents will talk and review options.”

The WAC is lobbying for No. 7 Brigham Young to be selected to the Fiesta Bowl, one of three bowl games involved with the alliance. BYU plays No. 20 Wyoming on Dec. 7.

Benson said if BYU beats Wyoming, but is not given a Fiesta Bowl invitation, “it’s another indication the system is flawed.”

Ohio State’s Orlando Pace, a 6-foot-6, 320-pound junior offensive tackle; Arizona State’s Juan Roque, a 6-8, 319-pound senior offensive tackle, and Texas’ Dan Neil, a 6-2, 285-pound guard, were selected as finalists for the Outland Award, given annually by the Football Writers Association of America to the best interior lineman in college football.

The winner will be announced on Dec. 12 during a college football awards show.
