City Council Chooses Olsen as New Mayor
Steve Olsen, a 10-year veteran of the Ojai City Council, has been unanimously elected by his fellow council members to a one-year term as mayor.
The five-member council took the action at Tuesday night’s meeting.
Joe DeVito, a council member since 1986, was selected as mayor pro tem.
Olsen replaces former Councilman Jim Loebl, 69, who decided not to seek another term after 28 years on the council. Olsen has been mayor twice before.
DeVito succeeds former Mayor Pro Tem Bob McKinney, 68, who ended his council tenure when he stepped down after seven years. In addition, new council members Suza Francina and Ellen Hall were sworn in to take the seats of Loebl and McKinney.
