King update--Behind a stellar effort by goalie Byron Dafoe, the Kings defeated the Phoenix Coyotes, 4-1, Tuesday night at America West Arena. Because Stephane Fiset is nursing an abdominal injury and is listed as day to day, Dafoe will start tonight and Jamie Storr will back him up. Forward Craig Johnson is also out because of an abdominal injury. Center Ray Ferraro has scored a goal in each of the last four games in which the Kings have scored; they have been shut out in three of their last six. Right wing Brad Smyth, a recent acquisition from Florida, will continue to play on a line with Eddie Olczyk and Ferraro.

Lightning update--Last month, rookie goalie Corey Schwab started the Kings’ shutout problems when he blanked them, 3-0, at Tampa. Since then, however, the Lightning has lost nine of its last 10 games. Recently acquired goalie Rick Tabaracci has not been much help in losing all four starts for the Lightning, who have won their last three games against the Kings, including a two-game sweep last season. The Kings are 0-4 against the Lightning at the Forum.
