Police Seek Public’s Help to Identify Men

Investigators have released artist renditions of two unidentified bodies, hoping the public will help them name the men.

Orange County coroner investigators and artists developed a sketch of one man and a clay model re-creation of the second man’s face.

The sketch is of a man whose nude body was pulled Monday morning from the waters south of the Newport Jetty. He was 5-foot-11, 160 pounds with brownish red hair, freckles and blue eyes. His two front teeth have white stains, and his right ankle had surgically implanted pins.

The body was discovered with both wrists slashed, and the case is being investigated as a suicide, police said.

The clay model depicts a man whose skeletal remains were discovered a year ago in a drainage ditch east of Irvine Lake. The man was believed to be between the ages of 60 and 80, about 5-foot-4 with a large nose that previously had been broken. The two front teeth were missing.

The cause of death is unknown, investigators said. The clay model was constructed by Anaheim police forensic specialist Lynette Faeser and Cal State Fullerton anthropologist Judy Suchey. Suchey estimates the remains were in the ditch area for five to 10 years.
