An 18-year-old woman in critical condition in a Bellflower hospital was identified Thursday as a Los Alamitos teen, after her mother saw a news report showing the teen’s distinctive tattoo, authorities said.

Stacey Posey, who was struck by a car while skateboarding Wednesday evening in the 9400 block of Rosecrans Avenue, had no identification with her, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Jaime Baltazar.

Posey suffered major injuries and, as of Thursday evening, had yet to regain consciousness at St. Francis Hospital, Baltazar said. Posey’s mother contacted police after seeing a news report with a description of her daughter and a photo of her tattoo, which depicts an alien embracing the Earth.

“We got a couple of calls from people who recognized the tattoo and one of them was from the girl’s mother,” Baltazar said. “She was very distraught, as you can imagine. The girl suffered pretty severe injuries.”
