Bowers Museum to Host Las Posadas

Share

The Bowers Museum of Cultural Art in Santa Ana will present a traditional Mexican Christmas festival Sunday featuring a re-creation of Joseph and Mary’s search for shelter in Bethlehem before the birth of Jesus.

Las Posadas, which means “the shelters,” will gather singers, musicians and audience members outside the gates of the museum at nightfall in a symbolic request for entrance and lodging.

When the gates open, the procession will join a fiesta of music, dancing, food, pinatas and appearances by Santa and Mrs. Claus.

The Century High School Chamber Singers, the First Christian Church chorus, Fiesta Ballet Folklorico and other groups are scheduled to entertain with dances and English and Spanish carols.

Admission is free, and guests are encouraged to wear traditional Mexican costumes and bring flashlights for the procession.

The event begins at 5:30 p.m. The museum is at 2002 N. Main St.
