Conservation Efforts to Bring City Honors

Share

Six school districts and five private schools will be honored by the City Council Tuesday for their efforts to save water and energy.

Under the Efficiency Menu for Schools Program, sponsored by the Anaheim Public Utilities Department, 62 campuses completed energy and water audits, and installed 1,094 ultra-low-flush toilets and 459 security lights purchased with state and federal grants.

The program will save 15 million gallons of water a year, enough to supply 46 families with water annually, said Mariann Long, efficiency program director for the utilities department.
