Fiset Practices, May Play Tonight

Goalie Stephane Fiset, who has sat out the last two games because of an abdominal injury, practiced Friday and might play tonight against his former team, the Colorado Avalanche.

“It felt pretty good. . . . I actually felt very good on the ice,” said Fiset, who has not played since losing, 2-0, at Calgary on Thanksgiving. “I did not have any pain on the ice.”

John Perpich, first-year coach of the Kings’ International Hockey League affiliate, Phoenix, was fired Friday and replaced by former Roadrunner coach Rob Laird.

The Kings are asking fans to bring an unwrapped toy to tonight’s game to be given to needy children for the holidays. . . . On Monday, the Kings will announce a $1-million grant to be paid over six years to the YMCA that will fund youth roller-hockey programs in the Los Angeles area.
