Louis Brown, the father of Nicole Brown Simpson, has been removed by a judge as a guardian of the children of his slain daughter and O.J. Simpson, according to Newsweek magazine.

In an advance copy Sunday of their latest issue, on newsstands today, Newsweek said it had learned from unnamed sources that Brown was removed during the summer by the judge hearing a custody case, leaving his wife, Juditha, as the sole guardian.

They said the judge was angry at Brown selling videotapes and photographs from his daughter’s estate in a possible conflict of interest.

“Newsweek has learned that Lou Brown was already removed as a guardian this past summer,” the magazine reports. “Sources said the judge concluded that Lou Brown had sold videotapes, photographs and diary notations belonging to Nicole’s estate for a considerable sum of money,” it added.

“The judge was described as angered by Brown’s actions, considering them a possible conflict of interest.”

Attorneys in the case, who are under a gag order, were not available for comment Sunday.

Newsweek said Judge Nancy Wieben Stock was expected to rule soon in the case in which O.J. Simpson is trying to reclaim custody of his two youngest children, Sydney, 11, and Justin, 8, from their grandparents, who live in Dana Point.

Final arguments in the custody case are expected to begin on Wednesday in Family Court in Orange. Simpson, acquitted in October 1995 of the June 12, 1994, murders of his ex-wife and Ronald Goldman, was sued in a wrongful death case by the families of the victims. A jury trial is being held in the case.
