Long Beach State Set to Face Michigan State
The Long Beach State women’s volleyball team plays Michigan State today at the University of Florida in an NCAA Central Regional semifinal.
The 49ers (33-2) had a first-round bye, then defeated Minnesota, 15-10, 15-13, 15-6, in the second round Dec. 7. Michigan State (25-6) defeated Texas A&M;, 19-17, 15-13, 15-12.
Long Beach State and Michigan State have met once in volleyball, at last year’s UC Santa Barbara tournament, where the 49ers won, 15-3, 8-15, 15-12, 10-15, 15-13.
Today’s winner advances to Friday’s regional final, where it will play the winner of today’s Florida-Ohio State match. That winner advances to the final four, Dec. 19-21 in Cleveland.
