The Ballet Folclorico Mixteca will host the fourth annual posada in honor of the group’s founder, Hector G. Mata, this weekend.
The posada, which means shelter, honors Joseph and Mary’s journey to Bethlehem as they sought shelter for Mary to give birth to the baby Jesus.
The procession, held at 7 p.m., will be hosted by Roberto Garcia and his wife, Martha, at their home, 629 South A St., Saturday night, and at the Mata family residence at 337 E. 1st St. on Sunday.
In addition to the singing and procession of the posada, the celebration will include traditional Mexican delicacies of posole soup, tamales and Mexican desserts.
“Everybody is welcome,” said Martha Garcia, the hostess on Saturday night. “We will have a pin~ata for the kids and everybody will have a good time.”
