Brighter Days Ahead as Rain Departs Region

Share

Fog and low clouds covered much of Ventura County on Thursday, but the remnants of this week’s rainstorms are expected to dissipate today, bringing sunny skies for the weekend.

The light rain that did fall early Thursday mostly tapered off by the morning rush hour.

“This should be it,” said Curtis Brack, a meteorologist with WeatherData Inc. “You will be definitely drying out by Friday night as those offshore breezes kick in. . . . Overall, it’s going to be much better than you have seen for the past few days.”

Partly cloudy skies are expected today after early morning fog with temperatures reaching the high 60s to low 70s.

Lows will be in the mid-40s to low 50s, Brack said.

It should be clear and breezy Saturday afternoon for Camarillo’s 35th annual Christmas parade with highs in the mid-60s to low 70s.

But the clearing skies will cause nighttime temperatures to dip into the 40s for Oxnard’s annual Parade of Lights, which begins at 7 p.m.

Sunday could be even warmer, with highs in the upper 60s to mid-70s despite gusty winds.

No rain is in the longer-term forecast for Southern California, Brack said, although Northern California and the Sierra Nevada could again receive precipitation early next week.
