Duck update--Just how much Guy Hebert’s hot hand has meant to the Ducks seems evident now that they have given up five and seven goals in the two games he has sat out recently, both losses. Hebert, who has given up more than two goals only once in his last nine appearances, is questionable for a second consecutive game because of a concussion after being accidentally hit in the head with a stick Monday against Boston. The seven goals the Ducks gave up Wednesday in a 7-3 loss to Pittsburgh with Mikhail Shtalenkov and Mike O’Neill in the net were the most they have allowed this season.

Capital update--Washington has lost four games in a row, the most recent a 3-2 defeat in San Jose on Wednesday. “Until everyone starts taking losing personally, we’re not going to turn this around,” Washington Coach Jim Schoenfeld said after the game. Injuries have been a severe setback, but leading scorer Peter Bondra probably will play despite a recent groin strain. Calle Johansson (broken jaw), Pat Peake (shattered heel) and Sylvain Cote (knee) are all out. Former Duck Todd Krygier is probable after jamming his wrist against San Jose. Krygier scored his fourth goal of the season in that game and has 13 points in 24 games.
