2 Dead in Santa Ana Shootout
Two men were killed late Saturday in their truck in a shootout with a pedestrian.
Rafael Gonzalez, 36, of Santa Ana and an unidentified man were shot and killed following an argument with another man. The incident occurred about 9 p.m. at 601 N. Patricia Lane in Santa Ana. A suspect, Jose Gonzalez, was still at large Sunday afternoon.
The Gonzalezes are not related, police said.
According to police, Rafael Gonzalez and the other man were driving in their white 1994 Chevy pickup when they stopped and became involved in an argument with Jose Gonzalez. The subject of the dispute is unknown.
“Gunshots were exchanged between both parties,” Santa Ana Lt. Bob Chavez said.
The unidentified man died at the scene, while Gonzalez died later at a local hospital.
Police said that Jose Gonzalez fled in a white 1984 Ford Bronco.
