Align-Rite International Inc. has named George D....

Align-Rite International Inc. has named George D. Wells, 61, to its board of directors.

Align-Rite is a Burbank-based maker of photomasks, precision quartz or glass plates used by semiconductor manufacturers during the production of integrated circuits.

Wells had been chief executive of EXAR Corp., a semiconductor manufacturer, and previously was a vice chairman with LSI Logic Corp., a major semiconductor manufacturer.

* Jay Samit was named vice president of Universal Studios Inc.’s new media group.

Previously, Samit worked for Jasmine Multimedia Publishing, a company he founded.

* Mary Olson has been named general manager of KCLU 88.3 FM, a National Public Radio affiliate at Cal Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks. She was director of marketing/development at the station for the past two years.

Dan Kuntz, who served as general manager and was responsible for developing the station, is now director of technical services.

* Nancy Webster has joined TCI of Ventura County as community relations manager. Her first assignment in this newly created position will be to coordinate a series of TCI-sponsored community events and fund-raisers, as well as strengthen the company’s communications with the public.

Prior to this job, she was director of marketing and sales for CommTech International, a training and multimedia development firm in Denver.

* Stan Whisenhunt Public Relations will change its name to Whisenhunt & Raduechel Communications on Jan. 1 to celebrate Laura Raduechel’s fifth year as a partner in the firm.

The firm, which has more than 40 clients and specializes in media and government relations, marketing and advertising, was formed in 1990 by Stan Whisenhunt, former managing editor of the Star Free Press in Ventura.

He later was joined by other former Star employees: Raduechel as a partner and Melissa Eastman, Andrea Howry and Marie Lakin as associates.

Also an associate with the firm is Beth Borozan, formerly a marketing specialist with Grubb & Ellis.

Raduechel has a degree in journalism and a certificate in literary editing and publishing from Cal State Chico. She serves on the board of directors of the Ventura County Press Club.

Among the firm’s clients are AT&T; Wireless Services, CB Commercial, Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, Nordman Cormany Hair & Compton, the Oxnard Economic Development Corp. and United Water Conservation District.
