County Gets Grants to Aid Defense Firms
Ventura County has been awarded two state grants totaling $373,500 that will be used to help retain defense-related businesses.
One grant for $240,000 will be used to help staff the newly formed Ventura County Economic Development Collaborative, a public-private organization that is seeking to assist local defense contractors in adapting to the commercial marketplace.
The second grant, totaling $133,500, will be used by the collaborative to provide low-interest loans to businesses that have been affected by defense cutbacks.
“This is great,” Supervisor Frank Schillo said.
“We were very fortunate to receive this money.”
