City OKs Restaurant Parking Proposal

Share

Granting the request of a local restaurant, the Moorpark City Council has agreed to eliminate one lane of Los Angeles Avenue, just east of Spring Road, and allow parking along the curb.

The management of Chuy’s restaurant had asked the council to allow on-street parking near the restaurant, at 590 Los Angeles Ave., to accommodate more patrons. The restaurant also offered to pay for the work.

The council unanimously backed the request Wednesday, noting that since the opening of the freeway interchange between California 23 and the Ronald Reagan Freeway, traffic on that stretch of Los Angeles Avenue is usually light.

One of the road’s two eastbound lanes would be eliminated. Signs would be posted along the curb prohibiting parking between midnight and 6 a.m.

The project must gain the approval of Caltrans before the city can proceed. The project’s $6,000 cost would be paid by Chuy’s.
