NONCONFERENCE

* OHIO STATE (5-1) at USC (4-2)

Time--4 p.m. TV--Fox Sports West. Radio--KWNK (670).

After a dismal showing Wednesday in a 71-59 loss at Tennessee, USC had a miserable time getting back to Los Angeles. The Trojans spent Thursday night in Atlanta because bad weather delayed their flight there from Knoxville and the team missed its connecting flight home. The Trojans did not arrive until Friday evening after catching a flight to San Francisco and then to Los Angeles. All the problems from Wednesday night (28% shooting, no movement on offense, early foul trouble) have been corrected in an Atlanta hotel or will have to work themselves out. The return of freshman Jarvis Turner, who has not played this season, because of a stress fracture in his back, will help. The Buckeyes have won five in a row, but against Kent, Alabama State, Long Island, George Mason and Southwestern Louisiana. They lost their season opener, 60-56, at South Florida. All five starters are scoring in double figures, including guard Damon Stringer (14.7) and 6-foot-9 center Jermaine Tate (16.3). Shaun Stonerook leads the Big Ten Conference in rebounding (10.3 per game).
