BIZ SENSE: The condo and the Range Rover may set them back a bundle at next month’s Sundance Film Festival, but Hollywood power players will be relieved to know they can still save a few bucks with a locally rented cellphone.

The industry dealmakers who descend on Park City, Utah, can reserve a $3-a-day mobile phone and avoid those nasty roaming fees on their 310-area code models while making their make-it-or-break-it calls.

Sundance packets hit Hollywood mailboxes last week, replete with such key survival information as screening schedules, filmmaker bios and a glossy pamphlet from cellular rental agency Wireless Solutions of Salt Lake City.

The deal is the brainchild of Jason Peterson, 22, a student at the University of Utah, and his father, J. Sherman Peterson, who run the family-owned business. “AT&T; is a major sponsor [of the festival] but they don’t have the manpower to handle this kind of work,” he said. “AT&T; has turned all their rental programs over to us.”

Those going to the festival to actually watch the films, undisturbed by beeps and rings, will be glad to know that these rental mobiles feature a silencer.
