NBC Has New Toy, Will Give It a Try

NBC will experiment with a new camera called Skycam during the Detroit-Chicago game today, the second half of an NBA doubleheader. Skycam, used to help cover track at the Atlanta Olympics, is suspended on cables above the arena floor and moves to keep up with the action.

NBC, calling this a big breakthrough in television coverage of basketball, sent out a preview tape of Skycam in action. The viewer may feel a little disoriented at first.
