Among the many hotel and bar festivities, several organizations and entertainment groups are hosting New Year’s Eve affairs. Following is a list of events around Ventura County:

The Magnificent Moorpark Melodrama & Vaudeville Co., 45 E. High St., will present a special New Year’s Eve dinner presentation of “The Pirates of Penzance”; catered all-you-can-eat buffet, party favors, champagne toast and more; $57.50; reservations required; formal attire; doors open at 7, and the entertainment will begin at 8:30 p.m.; 529-1212.

The Fillmore & Western Railway will present its 5th annual New Year’s Eve Party Train. The train boards at 7:30 p.m. at Central Park in Fillmore and the evening will include a buffet dinner, a variety of entertainment, dance car, party favors and champagne toast. The fare is $74.50 for age 21 and over. The train will depart at 8 p.m. and return at 12:15 a.m. For reservations, call 524-2546.

Blues great B.B. King will perform two shows on Tuesday at the Ventura Theatre, 26. S. Chestnut St.; tickets are $29.50 for the 7 p.m. show; the 11 p.m. concert, $65, will include party favors and champagne toast; 648-1888.

Parents Without Partners will host a New Year’s Eve Dance at 9 p.m. at the VFW Hall, 3801 Market St., Ventura; top 40 and oldies music played by a deejay; hors d’oeuvres, party favors, champagne toast; casual dress; $10 members, $15 nonmembers; 649-2058 or 642-9577.

The Ventura Rheinland Club will host a New Year’s Eve Gala Ball from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Knights of Columbus, 36 S. Figueroa St., Ventura; the Kontinentals will perform for dancers, also there will be party favors, buffet dinner, champagne toast; $25 members, $30 nonmembers; reservations required; 983-2383.

The Ventura Swing Dance Club will host its 6th annual New Year’s Eve Swing Dance from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. at the Poinsettia Pavilion, 3451 Foothill Road, Ventura; party favors, refreshments, music provided by two deejays; $12 in advance, $15 at the door; 643-3114.

The Goebel Senior Center, 1385 E. Janss Road, Thousand Oaks, will host a New Year’s Eve Ballroom Dance for ages 50 and over. The evening will include dancing, refreshments, door prizes and balloon drop. Music provided by the Windsors. Tickets are $15. Call 381-2744.

The Elite Theatre Company will present a New Year’s Eve Opening Gala for its staging of the murder mystery “Drop Dead! (Again)” at the Petit Playhouse, 730 South B St., Oxnard; the show will begin at 9 p.m., followed by a champagne buffet; $22; 483-5118.

The Conejo Pops Orchestra will host a “New Year’s Eve Night in Vienna” at 8 p.m. at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza Auditorium, 2100 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd. Elmer Ramsey will conduct a concert of Viennese music, light classic, plus waltzes and polkas by Johann Strauss. A New Year’s Eve Dinner & Dance will be held from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Oxnard Performing Arts Center, featuring music by the all-female Mariachi Las Adelitas and Satisfaction Unlimited. Tickets are $50. Call 486-2424.

The Buenaventura Theater Group will present a New Year’s Eve staging of its musical revue “Happy Holidays!” at the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center, 3050 Los Angeles Ave. The program begins at 8 p.m. and features holiday-themed selections from various Broadway shows and movies. A late dinner and champagne toast are included for $30; for the performance only, $15, $12 senior citizens, $8 children 12 and under. Call 581-9940.
