Pittsburgh Penguin goaltender Ken Wregget will sit out six weeks because of a pulled left hamstring, and goalie Tom Barrasso will be out indefinitely because he will undergo shoulder surgery.

Wregget injured his leg during the third period of Thursday’s 3-3 tie with the Montreal Canadiens and will be replaced by Phillippe DeRouville, just called up from Kansas City of the International Hockey League. DeRouville will join rookie goalie Patrick Lalime in time for today’s game with Northeast Division-leading Buffalo in Pittsburgh.

The Detroit Red Wings, criticized for not being physical enough, signed rugged right wing Joey Kocur, 32, who played five seasons for the Wings before being traded to the New York Rangers in 1991. Kocur has 2,270 penalty minutes in 684 NHL games, along with 70 goals and 71 assists.
