SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

Free classes in driver education for high school students will be offered in January and February in Brea and Fullerton.

The sessions are open to students 15 or older living in North County and are offered by the North Orange County Community College District. Students can register at the first meeting.

The instruction is for the classroom portion of driver education only. It does not involve actual driving. The training, however, fulfills the state’s standard for learning highway rules, safety and other basics of driving.

“These six-week sessions meet the classroom requirement for the California driver’s license,” a spokeswoman for the college district said.

Sessions in both Brea and Fullerton will be held for six weeks on Tuesdays and Thursdays. In Brea, the driver education classes will be from 7 to 9:30 p.m. starting Jan. 7 in Room 237 of Brea Olinda High School, 789 N. Wildcat Way.

In Fullerton, the classes will be from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. and start Feb. 11 at the Wilshire Adult Continuing Education Center, Room 202, 315 E. Wilshire Ave.
